I have the most remarkable news to share! My wife and I have moved to Cobble Hill, B.C., where we’ve opened a combined pottery studio and gift gallery. It’s called Two Hoots Gift Gallery, and it is where I’ll be making and selling my pottery for the foreseeable future. Cobble Hill is a charming little… Read More
For about five years now, I’ve had the pleasure of producing pottery pieces for the dining room at Victoria’s famous Butchart Gardens. It’s always exciting to get the call from their ordering department. Sometimes they are looking for more bud vases to display their cut flowers, and sometimes they need new sugar-packet holders for their… Read More
One last firing with my old friend, Mr. Big. Thanks to the kiln gods for keeping the lid intact and the elements working one last time. It’s been a good run.
Saying a fond but sad goodbye to Mr. Big, who has faithfully fired many many pots over the years. But its elements are sagging, the bricks are crumbling, and I fear the lid will collapse any day now. Traded it in on a brand new kiln, which will arrive next Saturday!

I am getting excited about the show opening this Sunday at RPlace, 420 Craigflower Road, just next to the Spiral Coffee Shop. I just finished firing a kiln load of bowls and plates. Now the waiting begins, as the big kiln cools. I will unload it tomorrow in the early afternoon; I will take a couple of photos… Read More
I’m having a show and sale of my new pottery work. If you live in the Victoria area, please come out to Opening Night on May 13, 2012.
This weekend I opened my latest glaze kiln – and may I say: “Wow!!” These are all pots that will be in the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Show and Exhibition this weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney BC. I am very excited at how the glazes have turned out since… Read More
I loaded the kiln last Wednesday, but had to wait til Saturday to fire it. Some covered jars, a couple of very big vases, some medium vases and – most exciting of all – eight glaze tests. Three were new green glazes – I am still looking for a green that fits with my work. The other tests were small… Read More
I fired the big kiln Sunday February 5th. The firing went well, and the kiln was finished late Sunday night. The anticipation builds after the firing is over. Did the glazes melt the way I hoped? Did the new experiment work? Everything seemed to go smoothly, although you never know until the kiln… Read More
